After the Le Mans disaster of 1955 (which he was an eyewitness to), Fitch became a safety advocate and founded the company Impact Attenuation Inc. He entered two Italian Grands Prix in 1953 and 1955 with him retiring in his first attempt and finishing 9th in his second.
