abstract
  • Eston McGarthy, son of the reputated RNS Line Officer Sean McGarthy, was born in the family's residence on Ynos, in 2985. His mother took care of his education personally, and inspired to him her patriotism and veneration towards the Captain, his father. He got to meet and play with the children of other RNS officers' families, and after school he often simulated space battles with his friends and scaled models of the Sivadian spaceships. It was soon clear to him that he wanted to join the Royal Naval Service. Between childish game and game, as he grew up and thought about his future, he said to himself that he wanted to be like his father. As a teenager, he dated the daughter of a Commander. He confident his dreams to her, and she told him that most modern girls don't like her boy to be away from them for months. That comment reassured him in his choice to join the RNS, not for personal glory or because of love, but for an ideal, the Kingdom of Sivad. At the age of 18 he was admitted in the Royal Naval Academy. The first year was great for him. His mood and dedication was excellent, and he got good marks in everything. But in May 3005, his father lost his life in the war against the Nall. His mother and his sister were alone, and had to leave Ynos to go to his mother's birthplace on Sivad. He had to choose. He went to a church and prayed. Looking at the Cross, he understood he had to go on. His marks in that second year of training were a bit worse, but he had chosen his definitive path in life. Nothing would matter to him more than the RNS now. After the third year, he decided to join the brand-new RNAS. He fell in love with the fast, agile and, best of all, individual Spitfire-class starfighters. He felt free in one of them. Free to, maybe one day, avenge his father. Free to improvise. After that last year of long and hard training, he graduated with good qualifications, although he wasn't the best of his generation. While waiting for his assignment, he spent a week with his mother and his sister, whose wedding was being preparated with great joy and happiness. Unfortunately, he would miss it. But he went to his assignment with high morale, and a clear conscience.
