| abstract | - George Gallup is a former NASCAR driver from Oneonta, NY. He competed in five Sprint Cup Series events in his career, earning one top-ten. Gallup's debut came in 1952, when he finished 72nd in points. He struggled a bit out of the gate, finishing 46th at Daytona Beach in his first start and then crashing to 28th at Langhorne. But Gallup recovered at his home track of Rochester. Starting 2nd in the field, Gallup managed to lead thirteen laps during the event and drove his way to a career-best 8th place finish. He closed out the year 20th at Langhorne. Gallup's final career race came in 1953, when he returned to Daytona Beach. Starting 29th in the field of fifty-seven, Gallup completed all but three laps to finish a solid 19th.
