As in the primary universe, the Deltans produced strong pheromones which acted as aphrodisiacs towards other species such as Terrans. As a result, some Deltans (perhaps even willingly) served as virtual sex slaves to high-ranking officers within Starfleet. Not all species within the Empire were susceptible to their influence. These included Vulcans, who were immune to the effects of Deltan pheromones. It was known by some in Starfleet that Deltans possessed rudimentary telepathic abilities.
