While Montgomery and other officers halted the robbery on Dean's building, Castle and Beckett tracked down the location where Tyler was being held; when the kidnappers made a proof of life video, Tyler had managed to pass on a message that he was at the A C E underground trainline connection point by saying "don't forget to feed Ace", naming a non-existent pet as a clue. Having found the room where Tyler was being held, Castle used Len's 'Lenny Box'- a switch that killed all power in a tunnel so that lightbulbs could be safely changed- to shut down power in the immediate area so that Beckett could break into the room and shoot his kidnapper by aiming at the flashlight he was using, subsequently returning Tyler to his family.
