He served as Mayor of Poplar in 1905-1906. He became a magistrate for the Romford Division of Essex in 1908. When the Port of London Authority was created in 1909 he became He was also a Superintendent of the Port of London Authority Police. He died at his home in Lee in south-east London aged 86.
