Before Aye the Queen's War for Conquest, Smalltonne was not a walled city, as at the time, the threat of conquest by nearwesterners was fairly small, null even. However, the city changed as the nearwesterners did, and King Jenes the Just built a wall around the city when he realized his subjects would continue to war each other, this was in exchange for Ires' obedience. It only somewhat worked, and the Dukes Ricefarm Fief were almost always the most disleal dukes of the Delklands.
