| abstract | - CLASH! Gai and Kagirinai Nagareboshi's Zanpakutō clashed, as sparks erupt from the powerful clash of weapons. At that moment when Kakusei and Mezame contacted with each other, the sheer force of the clash generated an extremely powerful sonic boom that decimated Central 46's headquarters, which began to shatter and fall apart around the two brothers. Locked in a struggle, neither Mototsu backed down, forcing their reiatsu into their blades, significantly amplifying their power as auras surrounded and swirled around the swords. With Gai's aura of pure white coating Kakusei, such a force was countered by Kagirinai's jet-black representation of his reiryoku. As Gai's eyes, which were full of hate narrowed significantly, focusing on his elder brother, the target of his rage, Kagirinai stoically uttered, "It seems that you have gotten stronger, brother. However, that strength alone is insufficient if you have the foolish hope of being able to best me." Gai's only response to this was to grit his teeth, baring the sharp incisors of the Mototsu race towards his brother. "Giri…As usual, you're not making a lick of sense to me. Now, answer me clearly. Why the hell are you doing this?!" Wordlessly, Kagirinai's reiatsu-enhanced Mezame overpowered Gai's aura-coated Kakusei, pushing his younger brother away, who attempted to stand his ground, his small feet digging into the ground in defiance. Gai's left hand, which was holding his Zanpakutō tensed, as his lithe body slowly began to feel the strain from such a futile struggle. At that moment, Gai's eyes flashed an ominous golden, as his pupils contracted and his scelera turned a haunting crimson. Purgatorial flames swirled around his body for a brief moment, as Gai unleashed a mighty and deafening roar which resounded throughout Seireitei, the sheer noise of which caused several structures to crumble in a matter of seconds, as well as force Kagirinai to take two steps back, breaking the blade lock. After this brief outburst, Gai's eyes returned to their normal magenta within blue states, as Kagirinai looked on, unimpressed. Clutching his head for a brief moment, Gai uttered, "Wait, what the hell…?" Confused by this occurrence, Gai banished the thought from his head; however, it was not a wise decision to shift his attention away from his elder brother, who had immediately utilized Kōshinho to translocate himself in front of Gai and unleashed an exceedingly powerful high kick directed at his face, sending the young Mototsu careening through the remains of one of Central 46's walls. As his delicate body flailed along the ground, Gai planted Kakusei into the ground in an attempt to slow his movement, utilizing the blade as a sort of brake. The moment his feet made contact with the ground, Gai ripped his Zanpakutō out of the ground leapt into the air, before shooting down at his brother in a manner similar to that of a shooting star heading towards the earth, aiming to slash his right shoulder, thus hampering his ability to perform Zanjutsu. However, before Gai could gain such an advantage, Kagirinai disappeared once again, much to Gai's surprise. "Strength means nothing in a battle, brother. The deciding factor is reason to win." As these words resounded throughout the silent wind, Kagirinai reappeared behind Gai. As Gai slowly turned around in shock, Kagirinai executed a swift and decimating axe kick directed at Gai's head that sent him crashing towards the ground at high speeds, and upon impact, Gai's body formed a massive crater that caused dust from the destroyed ground to quickly rise into the sky. Slowly opening his eyes, Gai's fingers clutched the small rocky formations that protruded from the ground. Without a second to waste, Gai weakly threw himself on his own two feet, staggering around before regaining a stable footing as he gripped Kakusei's hilt tightly. The blade of his Zanpakutō became immersed in light, as it gathered and roared and white feathers surrounded the blade. "Shining…" Gai's eyes sharpened, focusing on his brother as the white feathers converged, before immediately hardening. "ONSLAUGHT!!" a loud *BOOM!* echoed throughout the air, as Gai Nagareboshi unleashed a spinning, cross-shaped blast of feathers at Kagirinai, which shot towards the older Mototsu like a shooting star. "…Tch." As Kagirinai clicked his tongue in bemusement, light gathered and roared on Mezame, as black feathers converged around the blade, which instantaneously hardened. With the command, "Shining Onslaught." Kagirinai nonchalantly unleashed a spinning, cross-shaped blast of feathers at Gai as a loud *BOOM!* echoed throughout the air, releasing the attack from Mezame with a simple flick of his wrist. The size of Kagirinai's Shining Onslaught was larger than Gai's own- and it ripped through the air at twice the speed. Gai could only watch as his older brother's attack shredded through his own Shining Onslaught like a hot knife through butter before colliding with his body with tremendous force, sending him hurtling through the air at an incredible speed. While airborne, Gai felt a tremendous pressure exerted onto his stomach, as Kagirinai leapt upwards utilizing Kōshinho, striking his brother with a powerful knee jab. Giving him no time to react, Kagirinai grabbed his small wrist, and threw him towards a crumbling skyscraper. Hurtling through the air, Gai summarized, "He's superior to me in every way. Kakusei and Mezame are identical in ability, and I feel as if Giri's used Anki on better abilities than me. I can't see myself winning, but I won't fail…!" Catching himself the moment that he collided with the building, Gai's small feet touched the wall. Applying pressure to the skyscraper, Gai's feet slowly began to crush the iron that the building was constructed from. "…Now!" Without any time to waste, Gai Nagareboshi kicked off and shot forward at an extreme velocity towards his brother, moving like a phoenix ascending to the heavens. As he darted through the air, Kakusei became immersed in a golden aura, which shone radiantly with such brilliance that Kagirinai finally showed emotion, raising his left eyebrow in surprise. "Hm? What is he…?" Focusing his gaze upon Kagirinai, Gai shouted "Byakuya Senmetsuken!" as the light converged and formed into a giant white feather that replaced Kakusei's blade. Gripping the hilt of Kakusei with incredible strength, as Gai shot towards Kagirinai, he spun around, before screaming "Kanki Tenshōku!" Before his older brother could comprehend the situation, Gai unleashed a furious and exceedingly powerful barrage of slashes, striking Kagirinai from multiple angles at incomprehensible speeds. Each time a slash connected with the older Mototsu's body, a fiery explosion was unleashed, racking up the damage at a shockingly fast rate. After thirteen slashes, Gai spun around, blasting through Kagirinai with sound barrier-breaking velocity utilizing an incredible powerful twirling slash, sending the Mototsu careening towards the ground with tremendous speed and force. Floating in the air above his older brother, Gai spun Kakusei around his wrist, before focusing his gaze upon Kagirinai once again. Slowly standing from the crater that was formed upon his impact with the ground, Kagirinai uttered, "So you've upgraded to cockroach in my eyes, brother. Cheap shot…" Forming a slight smile upon seeing his brother's exasperated face, Gai retorted, "Giri, admit it. That wasn't any fluke. Even you, who's so high-and-mighty, knows that it wasn't a fluke." Clicking his tongue in irritation, Kagirinai responded, "…Tch. Your ability momentarily exceeded my own for that brief moment, so don't get too excited." Gripping Mezame once again, Kagirinai focused his own gaze upon Gai. "If you truly believe that you can still best me, then en garde." As he ran his hands across Mezame's blade, Kagirinai uttered, "Haguro Ryūō Jōshō Toppa." As black feathers swirled around Mezame with incredible speed, simulating a small tornado, the pitch-black down expanded before shooting up into the sky, before forming into a black, feathered dragon which suddenly went on a furious rampage. As it violently raged, without being able to control the beast, Kagirinai utilized his reishi to absorb it and trap it within his own reiatsu. After uttering, "Go." Kagirinai launched the dragon at Gai with tremendous speed.
