While attending Carpathia, Vyacheslav was part of a group of wizards known simply as "the clique", and became infamous for their school antics and rivalry with a certain Romanian wizard; Mateo Maximoff. This clique consisted of him, Marius Iliescu and Dragomir Dumitru, the latter being their de facto leader. Vyacheslav and his friends were at the top of the popularity hierarchy and would bully other students who didn't meet their arbitrary standards of looks or wealth. The one person who was a favoured target of the clique was Mateo Maximoff, an intelligent, albeit cold and introverted wizard who was picked on since day-one for being passionate about learning but shunning interaction with other students in favour of focusing on magical training. During his time at Carpathia, Vyacheslav met Natasha Romanova, a half-blood and twin sister of Natalia Romanova. The two began dating in their fourth year, however Vyacheslav routinely cheated on her because of Natasha's insistence on waiting until marriage before consummating the relationship; despite his unfaithfulness, Vyacheslav truly loved Natasha and the two became engaged in their seventh year. Vyacheslav reluctantly followed Drago's order to leave Mateo alone after the latter nearly killed Drago after an off-colour remark made about Mateo's deceased best friend. After graduating from Carpathia, Vyacheslav married Natasha, who was none the wiser about his sexual liaisons with the many female students of Carpathia. The two had a son, Alexi, named after Natasha's deceased brother. In 2017, Marius, one-third of the clique, died of an unknown illness and they hosted a funeral on 31 August; Mateo Maximoff showed up, allegedly to pay his respects, and although he was prepared to throw him out of the funeral, he was stopped by Drago.
