abstract
  • A Sticky Situation is the eighteenth episode of the seventh season. It was written by Andrew Brenner.
  • The work of Fergus Flamacron, A Sticky Situation and the sequels Secret of the 327th, Quest of the Gods, and and To Be A King follows the lives of the tamers and digimon after the end of Digimon Season 3 while eventually weaving in some characters from other worlds. The digimon make it back to the human world thanks to some DigiGnomes, though they are fairly scattered across the city during the arrival. Two of the members end up together, but are quickly captured by a man named Goro. His method of capture, an adhesive substance that quickly dried to hardness, limited the pair's ability to escape or attack. It also left the two digimon stuck together and having to rely on each other to make it out. And that is only the beginning of the trouble for tamers and their partners. While the first story remains firmly in the Digimon universe, the sequel drags Rika, Henry, Suzie, and their partners into another dimension: the Star Wars universe. There, they join in on the Clone War alongside familiar faces. The longer they are present there, the greater the changes to the original timeline become. Meanwhile, their friends search for a way to bring them home and a series of nightmares for a certain individual might not be from a natural cause. The newest additions to the series includes crossing over into the world of Pokémon entitled Quest of the Gods. The various universes are colliding into each other, threatening to destroy both the Pokemon world and the Digital world if it is not stopped in time. In order to prevent this from occurring, the Legendary Pokemon must be located. Meanwhile, a dark and ambitious force is at work and manages to drag a few characters of Star Wars universe when the Son becomes involved. Another, which will eventually become part of the same continuity, is a Crossover between Digimon Xros Wars and Lord of the Rings entitled To Be A King. Other possible crossovers for this series might eventually include Harry Potter in later stories, though that particular aspect will be a long time coming. The series really gets attention because of the highly-unlikely pairing of the main couple: Terriermon and Renamon. Somehow, it is handled very well and made believable by the skilled storytelling of the writer. Of course, considering that Digimon is the main category of the series, there is far more action and deep characterization than pure romantic fluff. The short collection of fan-requested works that used to be produced every fifty reviews, Reviewer Requests, includes both stories barely connected to the other works and those that fill in important blanks. Even the completely random pieces are fairly amusing.
