  • __TOC__ Detective Inspector Alex Cullen was a character in The Bill from 2000 to 2002. Cullen arrived at Sun Hill as a replacement for Chris Deakin following the Don Beech scandal. It was the only direct appointment that new Superintendent Tom Chandler had made, and he was seen as Chandler's unofficial hatchet man. But Cullen's persistence and commitment to the job meant that he earned the respect of the CID officers. To Chandler's obvious irritation, he also developed a respect for DCI Jack Meadows.

In the end, after a power struggle between him and Chandler, Cullen applied for the Murder Investigation Team. Unwilling to let him go, Chandler tried to block the move, but Cullen's knowledge of indiscretions in Chandler's past saw the move completed within days. On his leaving do, Cullen persuaded DC Duncan Lennox to join him.
