  • The premise for the Nova Strike Fighter is simple; take the biggest gun you can find, mate it to the biggest engine practical for a fighter, add enough shielding and armor to justify the cost of the weapon, and point it at the enemy. To this end, the Nova mounts a single heavy turbolaser cannon, a weapon normally found only on capital ships. Two wing-mounted laser cannons are added for use against fighters. A proprietary SRM-6 launcher is mounted in the rear to discourage pursuit, as the mass of the cannon precludes an agile or particularly fast craft.

abstract
  • The premise for the Nova Strike Fighter is simple; take the biggest gun you can find, mate it to the biggest engine practical for a fighter, add enough shielding and armor to justify the cost of the weapon, and point it at the enemy. To this end, the Nova mounts a single heavy turbolaser cannon, a weapon normally found only on capital ships. Two wing-mounted laser cannons are added for use against fighters. A proprietary SRM-6 launcher is mounted in the rear to discourage pursuit, as the mass of the cannon precludes an agile or particularly fast craft. As is common amongst MMA craft, equipment hardpoints dot the lower surface of the craft, enabling the fighter to carry additional weaponry or gear, from electronics packages to bombs to extra proton torpedoes or concussion missiles or even external thruster units to increase maneuverability or speed. Typically, though, mounting such external ordinance will lower the performance profile until launched or jettisoned.
