- Aeris Gainsborough (IPA: [ˈɛəɹɪθ]) is a fictional woman from the Final Fantasy series, who has touched the hearts of millions, and overcharged them for flowers. She also dies. She is also one of the few Final Fantasy characters to have her own religion. She is immune to Phoenix Downs. While her sister has speaking roles, Aeris herself was never given a voice actress. Pity, probably because she dies. (Well, until Advent Children and Kingdom Hearts)

Conforme la historia progresa, la organización empieza a perseguir al antagonista Sephiroth, y se revela que Aeris es una parte Cetra, o Anciana, la primera raza que vivió en el planeta, además aparece también posteriormente en la Compilación de Final Fantasy VII y en los juegos de Kingdom Hearts. Sus actrices de doblaje son Maaya Sakamoto en las versiones japonesas de los juegos de Kingdom Hearts y en Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, la cantante y actriz Mandy Moore dobla su versión inglesa en Kingdom Hearts, la actriz Mena Suvari en las versiones inglesas de Kingdom Hearts II y Advent Children, y Andrea Bowen en Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. Elena Palacios en Advent Children en la versión española. Aeris y los eventos que rodean su muerte en Final Fantasy VII tuvieron en general buena acogida por parte de los críticos y fans.
