The killer's fingerprints were uploaded into the Southern States Criminal Identification base in 1987. In April of 1994, LAPD Detectives Burns and Jerry Edgar found fingerprints matching the Butcher's in a vandalised vehicle on Sierra Bonita in Los Angeles.
