  • The Western Pennsylvania Black Political Assembly held its second Black Agenda meeting on December 9, 2006. The Western Pennsylvania Black Political Assembly will hold the second of four "Building a Black Agenda" forums today from 10 a.m. to noon at Monumental Baptist Church, 7041 Wylie Ave., Hill District. The forums are used to encourage grassroots political involvement. Today's will focus on issues related to health, education and human services.

The Western Pennsylvania Black Political Assembly will hold the second of four "Building a Black Agenda" forums today from 10 a.m. to noon at Monumental Baptist Church, 7041 Wylie Ave., Hill District. The forums are used to encourage grassroots political involvement. Today's will focus on issues related to health, education and human services. Managing editor of the New Pittsburgh Courier, Lou Ransom, will serve as moderator. Dr. Stephen Thomas, director of the Center for Minority Health at the University of Pittsburgh, will address health issues; Dr. Johnson Martin, retired principal of Homewood Montessori School, will discuss educational challenges; and Dr. Marcia Sturdivant, deputy director of Department of Human Services, will explore social welfare concerns of the African-American community.
