| abstract | - Despite being a mercenary clan, they apparently formed an alliance with the Senju clan at some point, which prompted the attack from the Uchiha. Even though most of the clan was wiped out near the end of the Warring States Era, a little more than a handful survived thanks to the intervention from the Senju. After the founding of the shinobi villages, Hashirama Senju invited the remaining clan members to live alongside him and his clan in Konohagakure, but that also meant living alongside the Uchiha as well. Unwilling to live alongside those who disgraced their clan, the Hitoshirezu instead sought refuge on the second best choice, the Senju-related Uzumaki-led Uzushiogakure, where they would prosper once again and even come to be acknowledged as a noble clan of the village. They continued to carry out mercenary activities up until Uzushio's destruction, after which the clan head of the time decided to change the clan's ways and fight majorly for peace instead of money. This decision, coupled with the heavy losses taken during the attack on Uzushio, which in turn remembered the clan of the Uchiha's own campaign against them many years prior, greatly upset some of its members, who then defected the clan in favor of following their own ideals, fracturing it and weakening it even further. The Hitoshirezu clan would be essentially dissolved by the end of the Third Shinobi World War.
