  • Tarkus is an antagonist in JoJo's Bizarre Adenture Part I: Phantom Blood. In life, Tarkus and his comrade Bruford served Queen Mary of Scots in the fifteenth-century until they were tricked by Queen Elizabeth of English into offering themselves to the axe for Mary's release. But the two knights realized their queen have been killed prior with Tarkus's spending his final moments expressing his hate for England. Tarkus was later revived as a zombie alongside Bruford by Dio Brando to serve as an enforcer.

Tarkus was recognised for his valorous actions during the assault on the Necron Catacombs of Kronus, where he and his squad repelled wave after wave of Necron forces in order to buy his commander enough time to plant special explosive charges designed to bring down the Thur'Abis Plateau and bury the Necron force. Rarely angered by anything, Tarkus is a rock-solid second-in-command and an expert tactician. He and his squad repelled wave after wave of the robotic horrors while Captain Thule planted the explosive which would end the Necron threat to the planet.
  • Tarkus may refer to a continent, but definitely refers to the world. Locations on Tarkus include the Darken Range, Torlin Forest, the northern regions, the plains (these locations appear to be mostly on the same continent, so may refer to the Tarkus continent). The New Atlas appears to discuss more about Tarkus continent (but also mentions stuff beyond the continent as well); It is said that the Torlin Forest is unlike any other place upon the face of Tarkus (although its unclear if this in context of the world or the continent).

He and his squad repelled wave after wave of the robotic horrors while Captain Thule planted the explosive which would end the Necron threat to the planet. Tactical Marines are the mainstay of Space Marine Chapters, shielding humanity from the countless threats assailing it. These elite warriors are the versatile front line units that bear the brunt of operations. They can wield a wide variety of weapons with great effect and absorb an amazing amount of punishment. A squad of Tactical Marines can turn the tide of just about any battle, especially with a resourceful veteran like Tarkus in their ranks.

The New Atlas appears to discuss more about Tarkus continent (but also mentions stuff beyond the continent as well); Little is known about what lands reach farther south than the Torlin Forest, primarily because no one has yet navigated the entire forest... To the west lie the lands of griffons and centaurs. Tharn Port is one of the few outposts along the edge of the Westland Sea. The swamp lands are to the north, and east of the Darken Range lies the home of the mountain dwarves. Beyond the dwarves lies the Dragons' Den and few venture there..." It is said that the Torlin Forest is unlike any other place upon the face of Tarkus (although its unclear if this in context of the world or the continent). Castle Shadowgate is said not to be largest castle on Tarkus (again unclear if this is in context of the world or the continent), but was the most powerful as it was inhabited by the Druids. It is said to be the most secure place on Tarkus. Kal Tarkus appears to be a land on Tarkus continent, along with Kal Torlin, Kal Zathynn, and Westland. But it may also be an alternate name for the continent. It is said, that if the Warlock Lord ever returns to power, Tarkus will not live to see the rising sun...

During the fighting, Tarkus managed to neutralise a Tomb Spyder in the critical moments while the detonator was being armed. Weaponless, Tarkus boldly charged the Tomb Spyder and managed to jam a Frag Grenade into a joint near the creature's head. The explosion crippled the Necron horror, but resulted in the loss of Tarkus' left hand and forearm (which was later replaced with a cybernetic prosthesis) and heavy scarring on the left side of his face. Tarkus' valiant actions allowed the detonator time to go into failsafe mode and explode, bringing down the entire plateau and burying the Necrons under tons of rock. He was awarded Terminator Honours in recognition of his valorous actions.
