It is the hometown of Jason, whose uncle Pelias (who in turn is the half-brother of his father and rightful ruler of Iolkos, Aeson) sent him to the famous campaign to Colchis (modern day Georgia) to steal the Golden Fleece, along with a group of other mythical heroes (including Atalanta and Herakles), known as the Argonauts, from their ship, The Argo. The port city was left mostly undefended apart from Militia, local Centaurs and whatever Astynomia (Αστυνομία: Greek Military Police) was available, and was eventually taken over by Kemsyt's bandits for a plan to enslave most male human inhabitants of the city, for a massive mining operation for Gargarensis' plans to unleash Kronos Since the invasion, the Acropolis has been destroyed and replaced with a Egyptian garrison, with the rest of the city being abandoned, in ruins and with much fighting and pillaging ongoing. Some unused buildings, while not destroyed, lay abandoned, and are in the process of being destroyed by the Bandits. Iolcos would eventually find itself to be liberated by a Atlantean expeditionary force, led by Arkantos and a Greek army led by Ajax who returning from Troy to have their ships repaired, found the city desolate, abandoned and in ruin. As of The Titans what happened to Ioklos is unknown, although it is possible the city is once again under Greek control, and rebuilt.
