  • John Dodd, Sr. is a former NASCAR driver from Glen Burnie, MD. He competed in eleven Sprint Cup Series events in his career, earning three top-tens. Dodd's debut came during the 1953 season, when he competed at Langhorne. Starting positions in the field of forty are unknown, but Dodd had a respectable race and wound up finishing a midpack 26th. Dodd stepped it up to a two-race schedule for the 1954 season, starting the year off at Mechanicsburg. Brake issues there severely hurt Dodd's chances, leaving him 36th. But Dodd quickly recovered when he returned to Langhorne, completing all but ten laps to finish a solid 9th. Dodd made two more starts during the 1955 season, recording some solid results. He made his first start at North Wilkesboro to start off the year, losing a spindle late in the race but still managing a 12th place finish. He improved a bit a few weeks later, completing all but seventeen laps to finish a solid 11th at New Oxford. Dodd only made one start during the subsequent 1956 season, competing at Palm Beach. Dodd struggled in his first start at the track, crashing to a 27th place finish. Dodd recovered for his lone 1957 season start, when he competed at Old Bridge. Starting 10th in the field of twenty-three, Dodd also finished 10th in the race after completing all but eleven laps. Dodd's next race came during the 1958 season, when he made his first career start at Trenton. Starting 21st in the field of thirty-four, Dodd crashed late in the race but still managed a respectable 22nd place run. Dodd's final three races would all come during the 1959 season. He started off the year fantastically, recording a career-best 7th place finish at Myrtle Beach. Following a 27th place finish at Myrtle Beach, Dodd ended his career admirably with a solid 11th place showing at Martinsville.
