  • Perotto De Santa (1 August, 1075 - 7 November, 1167) was a Muggle-born wizard from Castile, former crusader and progenitor of the De Santa family line. Youngest child of Felipe and Anna Maria De Santa (née Bermúdez), Perotto was not treaty very well by his family; with the exception of his elder brother Santiago, they all thought he was weak and would not amount to anything. To try and prove himself, Perotto answered the Pope's call to arms for the First Crusade, which was protested fiercely by his brother.

During the military campaign, Perotto met Gian Renaldo Tiepolo, a Venetian wizard. After a bought of accidental magic on the part of Perotto, Gian Renaldo realized he had met another wizard. Perotto had not known of his wizardry due to his accidental magic episodes being few and far-between and him not thinking anything of it. In mid-1098, Gian Renaldo brought Perotto to his home in Venice where he began training him as a wizard. During this time, Perotto fell in love with Gian Renaldo's sister, Elisabetta, and the two married at the turn of the century with her brother's blessing. With Elisabetta, Perotto had five children, two of which did not make it to adulthood. Their children from eldest to youngest were Santiago, Matteo, Valeria, Carlo, and Camila. Santiago was named after his brother and died at the age of thirteen from illness. In addition, Valeria was stillborn, which affected the De Santas greatly. Perotto raised his family at the Tiepolo Estate on the hidden island of Caldrona in the Adriatic. Gian Renaldo would die in 1155 and Perotto mourned him until his own passing at the age of 92, followed by his wife three years later.
