  • The Ulster Cycle is a series of web and print comics by Patrick Brown, set in Iron Age Ireland and based on the cycle of stories of the same name from Irish mythology. The first story, Ness, about a princess who turns outlaw to hunt down another outlaw, against a backdrop of impending war among the kingdoms of Ireland, ran for 72 pages between 15 May 2007 and 9 July 2008 and has been collected as a graphic novel.

The first story, Ness, about a princess who turns outlaw to hunt down another outlaw, against a backdrop of impending war among the kingdoms of Ireland, ran for 72 pages between 15 May 2007 and 9 July 2008 and has been collected as a graphic novel. The follow-up, The Cattle Raid of Cooley, began on 6 August 2008 and is ongoing. Based on the epic Táin Bó Cúailnge and set two generations later than Ness, it tells of the 16-year-old hero Cú Chulainn's single-handed defence of Ulster from invasion by queen Medb of Connacht. Issue 1, collecting the first 24 pages, was published in March 2009. Issue 2, collecting the next 30, was published in 14 November 2009.
