rdfs:comment
  • This series of battles took place in 1697 when the Venetian fleet, under Bartolomeo Contarini, hunted down the Turkish fleet in the Aegean Sea. These battles are known as "Bozcaada Sea Battles" (Bozcaada Deniz Savaslari) by Turkish historians.[citation needed] The actions took place on 6 July near Lemnos, on 1 September between Andros and Euboea, and on 20 September south of Euboea. Both sides had about twenty-six battleships as well as several smaller vessels. Casualties for Venice were seventy-one killed and 163 wounded in the first battle and 191 killed and 516 wounded in the last.
