On the domestic front, he was one of the co-founders of Telefon Club Bucharest, along with Riri Aslan, who convinced Bobby Tucker of the telephone company to form the team. Botez was later the captain of Juventus Bucharest. He was also a referee and sometimes played right wing, although his main position was center. Botez was also a skilled tennis player.
