He was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1947 NFL Draft. Lahr intercepted 40 passes from 1950 to 1959 to rank second on the team's all-time list, trailing only Thom Darden's team record 45 interceptions. He died in 1969 at the age of 45.
