  • Pontix
rdfs:comment
  • A Pontix was a priestly position that was held by individuals within Romulan society. They served multiple purposes within the Romulan religion as they conducted all public rituals from the inaugurations of citizens to the deeper level of service and obedience. They were also responsible for counseling citizens in ways better to serve their families or the Romulan Star Empire. The religion they served demanded only obedience, not faith, but the Pontices know that a believer was naturally more obedient than a citizen who acted as a matter of social compliance. This made the pontices privy to personal secrets, and though there was no formal relationship between them and the Tal Shiar, it was known that a few such priests had reported questionable activity to the feared intelligence agency.

As there was no division between church and state, the pontices were paid by the state as they both served D'era. (Last Unicorn RPG module: The Way of D'era: The Romulan Star Empire)
