His idealistic quest for peace would perhaps ironically bring him to the Office of Naval Intelligence, after several years of service within the UNSC. There, he would prove himself one of the most unconventional, if rather effective field operatives, in spite of his eccentric personality. Even as he grew older, he would still continue his service to humanity against whatever threat seemed to loom against humanity, even as the UNSC crumbled with the Created invasion of the galaxy.
