They were often depicted sailing in the Takarabune (the "Phantom Treasure Ship"). According to tradition, this ship would sail into towns on New Years Day and give amazing gifts to people worthy of receiving them. In Japan, children are given red envelopes with the Takarabune depicted on it containing money. Bishamon (an abbreviation of Bishamonten) was the god of warriors, war, and treasures. He is an import from India. He is usually depicted as a man clad in armor holding a spear in one hand and a treasure box shaped like a mini-pagoda in the other. Overturned soil circa Outpost W.
