  • The Very Reverend Canon William Barker (1 December 1838 - 28 January 1917) was an Anglican clergyman. Born in London, he was educated at Worcester College, Oxford and was ordained as a Church of England deacon in 1862 and as a priest in 1863. He was Curate of Hanover Chapel, Regent Street from 1862–68 and Assistant Minister, Curzon Chapel, 1867–70. From 1873-1882 he lived in the Isle of Wight where he was Vicar of St Mary’s West Cowes, 1873–82. He was appointed Chaplain to the Queen in 1876, and returned to London in 1882, where he became rector of St Marylebone.

He was Curate of Hanover Chapel, Regent Street from 1862–68 and Assistant Minister, Curzon Chapel, 1867–70. From 1873-1882 he lived in the Isle of Wight where he was Vicar of St Mary’s West Cowes, 1873–82. He was appointed Chaplain to the Queen in 1876, and returned to London in 1882, where he became rector of St Marylebone. He was elected to the London School Board as a representative for Marylebone in 1882 and re-elected in 1885. Barker remained as rector of St Marylebone until 1908 when he was appointed Dean of Carlisle in north west England.
