  • Sonny Easley (June 5, 1939 - January 15, 1978) is a former NASCAR driver from Van Nuys, CA. He competed in nineteen Sprint Cup Series events in his career, spanning from 1972 to 1977. In his brief career, Easley led two laps, earned five top-tens and a best career finish of 5th at Riverside. Easley drove the famed number 68 and competed at such tracks as Mesa Marin Raceway in Bakersfield and Saugus Speedway in Saugus California. He was tragically killed during a practice session at Riverside International Raceway. His car hit an illegally parked trailer that cut through the driver compartment.
