  • Shotguns are powerful, short-range weapons, used often as room clearers, or when the players main weapon, often an Assault rifle is out of ammunition. The shotguns in Black include: * SPAS 12 * Remington 870
  • Much like their human mounted counterparts, shotguns are short range weapons that fire hundreds of pellets or slugs that spread out from the barrel of the gun. While powerful (The damage is calculated for each pellet that hits), they are only useful in very close ranges. Back mounted variants are called Slug guns. In Armored Core: For Answer, it is noted that they are effective Anti-PA weapons. Some models of other weapons, such as Laser Rifles, Rockets, Bazookas, and Pulse Rifles have spread effects, similar to shotguns.
  • Shotguns tend have the following features: * Point-Blank chance to hit bonus * Short Range * Low armor penetration * Cone shaped area damage (arc varies with each weapon) * Can only equip choke mods. (This page current as of release patch 56458)
  • Shotguns are weapons with shorter range but more powerful damage. Shotguns are filed under light resist for clothing and armor issues. On the tooltip it says it has low damage but that is per bullet. One shell fired from a shotgun may have 5-10 bullets. At the moment there are 3 types of Shotguns: the Valley Forge SG, the Hargan Bulldog, and the Exeter Arret. The Valley Forge fires Pump-action and therefore usually cannot be fired as fast. The Bulldog and the Arret are both fired Semi-Auto. The Valley Forge and the Bulldog both carry 4 shells per clip and 3 clips, leaving you with 12 shells until you find more ammo. The Exeter carries 2 shells and 3 clips, leaving you with 6 shells originally. This can lead to a disadvantage for the Arret

  • About Shotguns. Shotgun Weapon uses buckshot which spreads out when used and attacks multiple enemies.
  • A shotgun is a smoothbore long gun designed to fire a number of spherical pellets instead of a single bullet. Most shotguns can also fire slugs. There are many different kinds of shotgun actions, but pump action is by far the most popular in the United States. However, there are also single-barreled break action, double-barreled break action (both over-under and side-by-side varieties), bolt-action, lever-action, revolving, and semi-automatic versions that one might encounter as well.
  • Shotguns are smoothbore weapons that typically fire buckshot but can usually fire slugs and even dart shells. All the shotguns in the game have a 12-Gauge [18.5-mm (0.729-inch)] bore. The Bore measurement is the diameter of the weapon's barrel. The Gauge measurement is how many balls of the bore's diameter can be made from one pound of lead. A gauge of 12 means that twelve 18.5-mm (0.729") lead balls can be made per pound of lead.
  • Shotguns refers to both a type of weapon and the unlockable combat-oriented talent that gives proficiency in them, available to Soldiers, Vanguards, the Krogan Battlemaster, and the Quarian Machinist. Shotguns are particularly deadly at close range and can grant the Carnage ability by leveling up in them enough. The shotgun is stored on the small of the back in its collapsed form, below your character's assault rifle and sniper rifle. Shotguns should be monitored closely when being used as they are prone to quickly overheating. See also: Shotgun Guide.
  • The shotguns are a sub-class of Assault Rifles (as they are your primary weapon if bought), shotguns are very powerful at close range but do almost nothing at long range, there are only 3 shotguns in Blackshot so far, they are: * Holy Shotgun * M3 Super 90 * S.P.A.S 12
  • The shotguns, unlike other firearms, does not have a predefined path and instead, they will be unpredictable (since a shotgun is generally a smoothbore firearm, which means that the inside of the barrel is not rifled). The advantage of the shotgun, however, is that they can hit multiple targets at close quarters. Usually, shotguns are feeded with shotgun shells, which contains various spherical pellets, creating the effect of dispersion in every shot. Following is a list of all the shotguns available in the Grand Theft Auto World.

  • Not much is known about the X-Dusk equipment, what makes them stronger than their previous set is a mystery to everyone.
  • A mysterious shotgun, crafted from the remains of the undead themselves. This weapon possesses great power, rumored to come from the souls of slain infected. One of its more gruesome details is in the infected human skull affixed to the base of the receiver-- the lower jaw is connected to the gun's bolt-interlock safety catch, requiring a survivor to actually open the skull's mouth in order to open or close the bolt, and to access the uniquely placed loading port. Its extra long barrel appears to be reinforced by the skull and spinal column of a "hellhound"-- one of the monstrous infected dogs that once prowled Fairview's streets in the initial outbreak. Some survivors claim that the gun's shots even sounds somewhat like the snarling bark of a hellhound.
  • The first and foremost thing that should be said of the Buckblast 99A is this: As firearms go, it is a vicious beast. The weapon is modeled after an early type of shotgun from the late 17th century known as a blunderbuss. Blunderbusses were essentially small cannons, loaded by packing buckshot and gunpowder into the barrel and fired by a flintlock mechanism. They are easily recognized by their flared, bugle-like barrel openings , which have made them popular as non-threatening stand-ins for traditional firearms in many children's cartoons. However, the reality of this weapon is no laughing matter. Blunderbusses were such powerful weapons that even their smaller pistol variants were often nicknamed "dragons". With the added modern firearms technology of Fairview's Guild of gunsmiths, the Buckblast 99A makes the already-formidable blunderbuss look like a BB-gun. This shotgun delivers a brutal hailstorm of lead with every shot. The massive recoil from just one shot assures that you won't be "blazing away" with this monster, but then again, with its immense power, you won't really need to.
  • Originally made and designed by Daewoo Precision Industries, the USAN-12 is a fully automatic combat shotgun made to provide sustained fire in close-combat situations. The USAS-12 is a gas-operated, selective-fire weapon which is designed to provide sustained firepower in close-combat scenarios. It accepts detachable 10-round box magazines or 20-round drum magazines, and is equally effective at killing powerful zombies and hostile, well-equipped humans.
  • A true feat of post-apocalyptic engineering, the Dusk Striker is nearly the most powerful shotgun available. With a huge buffer tube, and a reliable automatic fire system, the Dusk Striker delivers an unending lead storm of 12-gauge to anything on the wrong side of this powerful weapon.
  • The Washington Model 870 is a U.S. made pump-action shotgun manufactured by Remington Arms Company, Inc. It is widely used by the public for target shooting, hunting, and self-defense. It is also commonly used by U.S. law enforcement agencies as well as military groups such as Special Operations Command units of the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Army, and the U.S. Navy. Unsurprisingly, Fairview PD had a fair amount of these shotguns in their arsenal.
  • The Ace Barrel is one of the most intriguing newcomers on the shotgun market in the post-outbreak world. Gunsmiths took the inspiration for this weapon from a particular type of sawed-off shotgun known as the Lupara . Luparas are notorious as being the weapon of choice historically used by members of the Cosa Nostra mafia syndicate of Italy. Their applications have ranged from settling vendettas, to self-defense, to wolf hunting for sport . In field tests, the Ace Barrel has more than lived up to the vicious nature of its Mafioso predecessor: Every kill made with a shot from this gun is gory, messy, and brutal.
  • The Washington 1100 is a gas-operated semi-automatic shotgun, popular among waterfowlers and clay target shooters. It's a step up from the previous skeet-shooters but is nothing compared to the military shotguns below.
  • The Sweeper is a redesign of the Armsel Striker/Protecta, being a 12-shot revolver-type shotgun first made in Rhodesia and designed specifically for riot control and military combat. It normally had problems with the odd revolving magazine and its slow fire, but it's now lighter and faster firing. Classified as a destructive device in the USA and thus an uncommon weapon, its use was generally limited to various criminal organizations in Fairview and the odd police station. With the resulting zombie outbreak, however, this weapon has shown up more often in the hands of experienced zombie hunters.
  • A now obsolete pump-action shotgun manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. Doesn't stop wannabe cowboys from using it against the undead.
  • No relation to the video game company, a firearms manufacturer pumped out a fully American version of the rather popular Russian Saiga-20k. Due to the relation of the more powerful fully automatic shotguns, the Sega-20 is often considered a "babied" version of the more powerful AA-12 and USAN-12. While not being as powerful as the other shotguns at its level, it is still widely used, due to its ability to hold enemies back with an unending barrage of shells, as well as the fact that its ammo is not only very common but very cheap. It's as good as the real deal.
  • The WALL-500 shotgun is a conventional pump-action shotgun developed by Scientific and Production Organization Fort. It has a steel receiver and plastic or wooden furniture with all versions having barrels with removable choke tubes. The same choke interface on police guns allows for installation of cup-type launchers intended to fire tear gas grenades.
  • The Mannberg 500 is a shotgun manufactured by O.F. Mossberg & Sons. Rather than a single model, the 500 is really a series of widely varying hammerless, pump action repeaters, all of which share the same basic receiver and action, but differ in bore size, barrel length, choke options, as well as stock and forearm materials. Intended for use in harsh and dirty conditions, the Model 500 series is designed to be easy to clean and maintain. Perfect for the rugged zombie hunter.
  • The Highlander is a double barreled shotgun manufactured by Stoeger Industries. It is based on a traditional English shotgun design and is a civilian shotgun primarily used for hunting wildfowl and for skeet shooting - needless to say, against zombie craniums, it's a tad lacking. Tally-ho!
  • The Painshot 10 came about due to the desire of several gunsmiths to find some way to make use of damaged or worn-out shotguns they found in each Outpost's Yard. Eventually, they found a way to modify the intact parts they extracted from these shotguns so that they could be fitted interchangeably with each other. After some experimentation, the Painshot 10 was developed, becoming the first 10-gauge shotgun to be used by survivors. While it does have more than a few weaknesses, it'll still keep the infected at bay while in the Inner City.

abstract
  • Shotguns are a type of firearm featured in all installments of The Last Stand series.
To prevent potential confusion, the shell's Shot Size measurement is different: it is based on a number or letter code (varying per system) assigned to a packet of shot of a diameter that is smaller than the bore. For instance, American #00 ("Double Aught") Buckshot is 8.38-mm (0.33") in diameter and there are eight #00 Buckshot per 12 Gauge shell. Dust Shot (also called Varmint or Corbie shot) is made of particles of lead shot and is used to kill rats, mice and crows or hunt game rodents like Prairie Dogs at close range. Birdshot is small-diameter lead or steel shot for hunting small game like quail or rabbits. Waterfowl shot is medium-diameter steel shot used for hunting large game birds like geese and ducks. Buckshot (named for a "buck" - a term for an adult male deer) is large diameter lead shot used for hunting large game animals like deer, boar or bears. The shotguns in the game are rated to take both Standard [70-mm (2.75-inch)] and Magnum [76-mm (3-inch)] length shells. Magnum shells either have a larger powder charge or contain a heavier amount of shot than a Standard shell. The buckshot shells are Standard length and the Slug and Dart shells are Magnum length. Shotguns loaded with buckshot shells are the ultimate close quarter combat weapons. They are able to kill a moderately armored human opponent with a single shot at close range and send them flying backwards. Virtually every opponent in the game (human or mutant) can be defeated at close range with a barrage of buckshot. Due to the fact that buckshot expands rapidly after exiting the barrel of the shotgun it is virtually useless against distant enemies. Slug shells are shaped like a long blunt-nosed bullet, rather than a ball like shot is, making it more accurate and giving it better range and penetration. They are heavier than shotshells because they are made of solid lead rather than a packet of loose shot. They are good for mid-range shots against single targets. In S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, they get better penetration and range, replacing the Dart shell. Dart shells contain a flechette [French > "Little Arrow"], an arrow-like lead projectile with a sharp armor-piercing metal penetrator and finned tail. It is contained in a sabot [French > "Shoe"] - a protective casing that falls away in pre-sectioned pieces after the round leaves the barrel. The sabot not only protects the flechette from damage, it also increases its muzzle velocity. It is more stable and accurate in fight and can go farther than a slug. They are good for long-range shots against unarmored or lightly-armored targets or mid-range shots against moderately-armored targets. They were originally rare, found only in caches or obtained as rewards from completing missions, in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl but were common and available for purchase in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky. They were removed in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat. Disadvantages of the shotgun include: slow rate of fire, short effective range without appropriate upgrades, small magazine capacities, and long reload times. They also cannot be equipped with a scope, so medium and long-range slug or dart shots must be made with the unaided eye. On the plus side it should be noted that all shotguns are cheap to buy, inexpensive to upgrade, and use a good complement of ammunition types.
  • Shotguns are a class of firearm that is usually designed to be fired from the shoulder, which uses the energy of a fixed shell to fire a number of small spherical pellets. During Max Payne's story, various shotguns are used by him, and his enemies.
  • A list of the shotguns found within the series.
The most common shotgun gauges are 10, 12, 16, 20, 28, and .410. Note that .410 shotguns are actually .410 caliber, as the gauge of .410 shell would be roughly 67. The smaller the gauge, the larger the diameter of the bore. 12 and 20 gauges are the most common - especially within the United States - and are both exceptionally powerful. It is also a good budget-minded choice. At stores like Walmart, a 100-round case of 12 or 20 gauge ammunition can be purchased for around $20.00, and these cases are quite abundant However for these prices one would be buying birdshot loads which would only be fatal to a classical zombie at extremely close ranges. (less than 30M). The same cannot be said for the other gauges, though lead bird shot is typically the least expensive. Shotguns rarely have a large magazine capacity, generally between 4-8 shells in the magazine tube so reloading is frequent and usually slow. Another issues is that shotguns typically have more recoil. (depending on the type of ammunition and type of shotgun) The operation of a shotgun is also generally less user friendly depending on the action type. Shooters operating any manual type of shotgun, I.E. Pump, Lever, or Bolt action must ensure they fully cycle the weapon to avoid malfunctions. Operator error is the most common cause of malfunction for any tool, pump shotguns especially. One advantage of the shotgun is stopping power. A full power Buckshot load for a 2 3/4" shell will have between 7-12 pellets of 00buck which will stay in a a group about the size of a pie plate for about 10-30 yards depending on the type of shotgun, the choke or lack of one, and its overall barrel length. Each pellet of 00 buck is roughly the size of a .32 caliber bullet. Rifled slugs also will hit much harder then most full sized rifle calibers at close range. The energy of a 300 grain slug moving at 2000 Feet per second will be about 3623 Joules. By contrast a 125 Grain 7.62X39 round moving at 2365 Feet per second produces 2111 joules.
  • Shotguns excel in close quarters and indoors, where they can quickly blow even the toughest of enemies to pieces. However, their performance suffers at medium range and longer. There are 5 types of shotguns for each faction, a "low-capacity short-reload semi-auto shotgun", a "high-capacity long-reload semi-auto shotgun", a "fully automatic shotgun", a "heavy pump action shotgun", and a pump action shotgun.
  • __NOWYSIWYG__ Shotguns

The shotgun is stored on the small of the back in its collapsed form, below your character's assault rifle and sniper rifle. Shotguns should be monitored closely when being used as they are prone to quickly overheating. Shotguns have a rate of fire of 0.8, i. e. one shot every 1.25 seconds. See also: Shotgun Guide.

Shotguns are best used against a group of approaching enemies, the S.P.A.S 12 and the Holy shotgun are the best shotguns to use in Bunker Defense as thier range is superior to the M3 Super 90 and they are semi-auto, only use shotguns if you need them, if not you may be wasting ammo and Bounty Points on them.
The advantage of the shotgun, however, is that they can hit multiple targets at close quarters. Usually, shotguns are feeded with shotgun shells, which contains various spherical pellets, creating the effect of dispersion in every shot. The shotguns will limit mobility while wielded - the player character is not capable of sprinting and, in some games, is required to stand still when targeting. An exception is the Sawn-off Shotgun, which does not just allow the player to fire while running, but also wield two sawn-off shotguns at once. Shotguns are not weapons designed for drive-by's, however, during the GTA IV's DLC The Lost and Damned, the player is able to use the Sawn-off Shotgun as a drive-by weapon only for motorcycles. Prior to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, a close range shotgun blast can knock the player down. It makes them defenseless while on the ground, even with body armor. However, in GTA San Andreas, and games from Grand Theft Auto IV onwards, this weakness was eliminated but the player may still suffer tremendous damage at close range, or get stunned (GTA SA only). From GTA III onwards, the player may receive 5 shotgun shells by entering a police car, and a shotgun will be added to the player's weapon slot if the player does not already have one. Following is a list of all the shotguns available in the Grand Theft Auto World.
  • Shotguns tend have the following features: * Point-Blank chance to hit bonus * Short Range * Low armor penetration * Cone shaped area damage (arc varies with each weapon) * Can only equip choke mods. (This page current as of release patch 56458)
