- The Gyphus Squadron became one of the last active squadrons in Aurelia during the Aurelian War and was assigned with the defense of Aubrey Air Force Base, the only air base on the country which had never been destroyed by Leasath forces. In September, Leasath Air Force launched their B-52H Stratofortress bomber squadron from Puna Base to Cape Aubrey in an attempt to destroy the base, but was shot down by Gryphus Squadron while approaching their target as they dropped their bombs on an unidentified coastal city. Not all ended well, however, as Cape Aubrey was hit by a Shock Wave Ballistic Missile launched from the Gleipnir, Leasath's advanced airborne fortress, from Puna Plains at the south. As a result, the base suffered heavy damage, and three of Gryphus Squadron's members were killed in the missile attack, except Gryphus One, Gryphus Five and Gryphus Six, who followed their flight leader throughout the game. Afterwards, the squadron went on the offensive. First, they have to capture Puna Base, then providing air cover for the remains of the Aurelian Army in the recapture of Port Patterson. After the capture of Port Patterson, the Aurelian forces began to rush across the southern part of Aurelia, soon capturing Santa Elva, and pushing into Griswall. However, before capturing Griswall, the Meson Cannon had to be taken offline. After the Meson Cannon was destroyed or disabled, the capital was recaptured, and the war was technically over. However, Leasath's commanding officer had disappeared, and was followed by two F-117As (Otus Squadron) of the Aurelian Air Force. However, they were shot down by an new type of stealth fighters named Fenrir which had launched from Leasath's last stronghold, Archelon Fortress. This marked the beginning to the end of the war, and Aurelia began a final assault on Archelon.
