When the invasion failed (because Robotnik's serum wore off) and the warriors returned home, Sharka Khan was angry that Robotnik had been using them to get to Sonic. Nevertheless, Sharka Khan still wanted to invade the surface world. When Jaws Michael said that there would be trouble if Sonic found out, Sharka Khan said that they were untouchable since Sonic couldn't swim. He was quickly proved wrong when Sonic himself arrived, having been taking swimming lessons and wearing a special diving suit designed by Tekno the Canary. Sharka Khan ordered his warriors to fight Sonic while he escaped, and he went to pack up his belongings so that he could leave Trituna and set up a new kingdom elsewhere in the ocean. Sonic found him and exposed his cowardice to his people, who deposed him as Zone Leader and decided to rule Trituna themselves.

Learning that Robotnik's serum was merely a ploy for someone else to get rid of Sonic, Khan remained determined that he could conquer the surface world. Jaws Michael expressed his worries that Sonic would want revenge, but Khan laughed this off, stating that Sonic couldn't swim. Unfortunately for him, Sonic had been taking lessons, prompting him to swim away, guarded by his citizens. Panicked, Khan attempted to flee the Zone, struggling to pack his suitcase in the water. Before he could leave to set up a new kingdom, Khan's quarters were smashed in by Sonic. Stara and the others attempted to defend their leader, but changed their minds when they discovered of Khan's cowardice. The shark attempted to justify his actions as being the "boss", but was soon fired from his position by the others. Khan's whereabouts are currently unknown.
