  • Maurice "Maury" E. King (March 12, 1935 – September 17, 2007) was an American professional Basketball player, who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for the Boston Celtics and Chicago Zephyrs. King played collegiately for the Kansas Jayhawks and was the first black starter in Kansas Jayhawks basketball history in 1954. A teammate of Wilt Chamberlain, he played in the famous 1957 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament game, where the Jayhawks lost to the North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball in Overtime (sports). The , Tweener (basketball) was selected out of the University of Kansas by the Boston Celtics with the 48th overall pick in the 6th round of the 1957 NBA Draft.
