  • In the illusory Wild West created by the Melkotians, Angela Rossini was an actress who portrayed the character Mazeppa. While playing the character, she, while wearing skimpy clothing, would be riding a horse while strapped to its back. A broadside on the side of the saloon in Tombstone, Arizona advertised this role, claiming that Ms. Rossini had unprecedented success in this role. (TOS: "Spectre of the Gun" ) The broadside was from the Paramount film Heller in Pink Tights. Sophia Loren played the role of Angela Rossini. Angela Rossini herself was based loosely on the real life actress Adah Isaacs Menken, who portrayed the character of Mazeppa in the melodrama of the same name. This was her best known role, possibly attributed to the fact that at the climax of the play she seemingly appeared nude (she was wearing nude tights) while riding a horse.
