Synopsis
  • When reports that the games at a local carnival are rigged so that people can't win, Perry White sends Lois Lane and Clark Kent to investigate the story. With his x-ray vision, Clark learns that one of the carnival workers has hired actors to pretend to win prizes on the midway as a means of tricking people into playing unfair and rigged games. Deciding to teach the owner a lesson in fairness, Clark secretly uses his super-powers to assist Lois in winning at every game. On the first day, he secretly helps Lois clean out all the carnivals prizes, and the next helps a young boy win equipment for his baseball team. When the owner sets up a new game, one that involves hitting a mock-up of Superman with darts, they rig it with negative magnets that repel the metal points of the darts. Seeing this as an opportunity to catch them red handed, Superman once more secretly uses his powers to make every game a winner. When the owner goes to see what's wrong with the statue, Superman quickly changes out of his Clark Kent guise and replaces the statue with himself at super-speed. When Superman, Perry White, and the mayor of Metropolis hard ball the owner to let Superman play the games -- or forfeit his honesty bond which he was required to pay to the city before setting up, the Man of Steel naturally wins at every game and cleans up. When the carnival owner tries to escape with all the money he stole from others, he trips himself up with his own electromagnet and is easily apprehended.
  • When Perry White gets an anonymous note outing Professor Otto Juris as Superman, he assigns Lois Lane and Clark Kent to learn if there is any truth to the claim. Interviewing Juris, Lois Lane and Clark Kent witness Juris seemingly perform super-feats that compromise his "secret identity". Since Clark Kent is really Superman, he is interested to know why Otto Juris is trying to hoax them into believing that he's really Superman. When reports of a mine cave are broadcast on the radio, Juris excuses himself, and then releases a Superman shaped balloon to further fool Lois and Clark. Clark also parts company with Lois so that he can really deal with the threat as Superman. When he returns to the Daily Planet as Clark Kent, he finds that Lois has had the local cartoonist draw a picture of Juris without a beard, further convincing her that Otto is really Superman. As Superman is off performing super-deeds, Lois goes back to Juris's lab and finds him not there, and finds dummies, Superman robots, and a costume studio and is convinced that Otto is really Superman. When she tells Otto that she believes that he is the Man of Steel, she plays into Otto's hands, who bugs her with a microphone. When she returns to the Daily Planet he and his goons learn that Perry White has secured a chunk of Red Kryptonite and has sealed it in a lead lined safe so that Superman can safely dispose of it later. This turns out to be a ruse, orchestrated by the real Superman to catch Juris and once his plan to steal the Red Kryptonite was exposed, Superman takes him to the authorities.
  • On Bizarro World, the Bizarro family is enjoying an evening of watching Earth television programs. They come to enjoy the horror movies, as to the Bizarro mentality, they equate to comedy, when Bizarro tells his children that he is the greatest monster of all, he is quickly corrected when an advertisement for a movie based on Frankenstein's Monster airs on the television. This prompts Bizarro to return to Earth and face off the Frankenstein Monster. Of course the monster is fictional, and so Bizarro ends up attacking an actor who is portraying the role, bringing the attention of Superman. Since Bizarro hasn't done anything wrong, Superman chooses to just sit back and see what the monster ends up doing. Bizarro then begins to try and scare people, but only finds that people laugh in his face and don't find him the least bit frightening. Not even a pair of children are scared of Bizarro, and instead come to enjoy his company. This drives Bizarro mad with rage and he goes on a rampage on the movie set, until he believes he's scared everyone because their hair is standing on end. In reality, Superman had turned on a static electricity generator, so that Bizarro would be satisfied and go back to his home world. Watching with his x-ray vision, Superman sees just that, and Bizarro goes to his children and presents them with a marionette of the most frightening thing he could find on Earth: Superman.
