  • During the conflict, Jiro Kamiko had nearly brought the Coven to its knees and was almost successful in his victory. But the timely sacrifices of the Harbringers and the controversial tactics dictated by the Katsumi's foremost Tactician and Arch General, Isshuku, abetted Jiro of his promising victory and sent his plans of conquest back at least a couple of years. Spurred on by the Covenant's defeat, Katsumi regathered her forces and continued to push into their former territory, at the expense of several armies. Reeling from the unforeseen counterattacks, Jiro, the Alpha, and his Lieutenants sent the majority of their forces to fortify the Covenant's outermost strongholds. After weeks of inconclusive battles, Jiro sent a specialized task force to track Katsumi and potentially take her down. Evidently failing, Katsumi moved her forces to the footsteps of Jiro's last bastion of defense, the City of Necropolis. There, Katsumi, Kain, Isshuku, and the Fushi Coven launched the final battle. Katsumi persevered over Jiro in Necropolis's Dread Tower, and the Coven routed the Fallen's forces. With Jiro's fatality, the Alpha killed, and the Covenant's Legions scattered and confused, the long and dreadful Blood War subsequently came to a complete end.

It is fought across numerous worlds, the Astral Sea and, on rare occassion, the Abyss and the Nine Hells itself. No one knows exactly how the Blood War began or why it has raged for so long. What is known is few demon princes like Orcus, and Demogorgon, as wells as Dukes of Hell, and even Asmodeus himself, pay the war little to no attention. Some devils, such as Bel, Duke of Avernus, the First Hell, and demons lead armies into the Blood War, thinking it could increase their power and influence. Others do it to pass the time of an immortal life. Forces of good have been known to supply weapons to both sides through middle men. They fear one power conquering the others and uniting both races, then turning their attention to ther other planes.

The conflict is massive, spanning entire planes of reality, and hosting an almost infinite number of fiends. It is in a perpetual stalemate, as both forces are unable to overcome each other. This balance is largely maintained by the yugoloths, who are manipulating them from the sidelines. Other parties, even celestials, have helped keep the balance intact, fearing the threat that would emerge if the war ended and the fiends united. Most of the conflict rages in the Grey Wastes, however skirmishes can occur anytime the two groups meet, even on the material plane. Sometimes both parties are deliberately summoned to observe or exploit the phenomena.
