| abstract | - Nora Lana Comstock (born Nora Lana Glandon; 24 June 1999) was a half-blood Canadian witch and daughter of the late Danny and Sophie Glandon (née Haas), both of whom perished when a Portkey destined for France disappeared. She was four years old when her parents died, and was subsequently taken in and later adopted by John William Comstock and his future spouse, Claire Renard. Nora's biological parents loved Nora very much, but her mother's depression and drug addiction stemming from the disappearance of her former best friend and secret lover, John William Comstock, coupled with her father's drinking problem due largely in part to the same thing and the effect it had on Sophie led Nora to be routinely put in the care of friends and family members, usually her maternal grandparents; Jake and Miranda Haas. On 24 August 2003, her parents disappeared when a Portkey they were taking vanished on its way to France. Nora was at her grandparents' home when it happened, and her grandmother had a heart attack when she heard the news. Nora spent the next few days in the care of a family friend of the Haas' while her grandmother recovered in the hospital. She was taken in by John at the advice of her grandfather after he returned to Canada, where she became very attached to him and Claire Renard, who was another person affected by the Portkey's disappearance and was staying with John for the time being. Nora, desperate for a family, took to seeing Claire and John as mother and father-figures respectively. On Christmas Day, 2004, Nora was officially adopted by John and Claire, who began dating. Nora's adoptive parents married in 2005; she was the flower girl at the ceremony. Nora gained two siblings from John and Claire's marriage; George William Comstock and Monique Thérèse Comstock. She began attending Ilvermorny in 2010, where she was Sorted into Horned Serpent. She graduated seven years later with hopes of becoming a Muggle Studies professor.
