This drew the attention of the Rakata, who conquered, enslaved, and annexed them to their Infinite Empire in 25,793 BBY. The Kumumgah eventually rebelled and were punished by the Rakata, who bombed the surface of the once lush world of Tatooine into little more than fused glass. This glass eventually crumbled and became desert sand. The extreme climate change had the Kumumgah evolve into two races: the Ghorfas (the Sand People), and the Jawas.

- I Kumumgah erano una razza tecnologicamente avanzata che abitava Tatooine fino al 25.793 BBY: erano la specie antenata dei Jawa e dei Ghorfas. Al quel tempo Tatooine era verde e pieno di vita, coperto da vasti oceani. Grandi città vennero costruite dai Kumumgah,che aspiravano alla conquista nello spazio. I Kunumgah riuscirono a scappare tramite tunnel sotterranei. Col passare dei millenni i Kumumgah si divisero in 2 specie, i Jawa e i semi-sedentari Ghorfa.
- Raza nativa de Tatooine en una era antigua, antes de que las arenas llenaran la superficie del planeta. Debido a que osaron desafiar al Imperio Infinito, sufrieron la invasión de la raza rakata quienes bombardearon tanto la superficie de Tatooine que la convirtieron en el paraje desolado que se conoce hoy. Posterior a estos eventos, los Kumumgah sobrevivientes habitaron grandes cavernas subterráneas y tuvieron que adaptarse a los cambios climáticos drásticos. Fue debido a estos cambios que los Kumumgah fueron el tronco común de la evolución en dos especies nuevas: los jawas y los ghorfas. Mientras los jawas permanecieron igual, los ghorfas siguieron evolucionando en una especie superior: los incursores Tusken. L'Impero Infinito dei Rakata, attratto dalla potenza della Forza di Tatooine, attaccò il pianeta, schiavizzando i Kumumgah, massacrandone un grande numero e rapendone molti per usarli come "batterie" per la loro tecnologia basata sulla Forza. Inoltre i Rakata sottrassero ai Kumumgah la loro tecnologia e costruirono un tempio in una grotta per segnare la Mappa stellare che indicava le coordinate della Star Forge. Successivamente, i Rakata vennero indeboliti da una piaga e dalle guerre civili che stavano devastando il loro impero, e i Kunumgah si ribellarono. Così i Rakata si vendicarono bombardando Tatooine facendo diventare la superficie vetro fuso, il quale si trasformò ben presto in sabbia. I Kunumgah riuscirono a scappare tramite tunnel sotterranei. Col passare dei millenni i Kumumgah si divisero in 2 specie, i Jawa e i semi-sedentari Ghorfa. Quando Tatooine venne scoperto di nuovo dalla Repubblica Galattica nel 5000 BBY e venne colonizzato, i Coloni trovarono i Ghorfas all'inizio non ostili che erano ancora semi sedentari in una grotta. Ma dopo che i Coloni, in un gesto di avidità, prosciugarono i pozzi d'acqua che i nativi usavano per sopravvivere, da quel momento iniziò il loro odio profondo per tutti gli stranieri. Successivamente i Ghorfa si devolvero negli attuali Sabbipodi, i quali erano forzati ad indossare vesti spesse per sopportare il clima desertico, che inoltre rappresentava il loro legame con la terra.
