| abstract | - The Vuxhal was an Ontailian battle cruiser in service in the 24th century. When Starfleet and the Ontailians began working on clearing the Rashanar Battle Site in 2377, the Vuxhal was the lead Ontailian ship in the region, and was charged with recovering bodies and keeping away scavengers. In early 2378, the Vuxhal became seriously damaged in the "boneyard", and had to return to Ona for urgent repairs. When she returned three weeks later, she encountered the USS Enterprise-E, and later helped the Enterprise to chase Androssi salvage vessels. While Captain Jean-Luc Picard was negotiating the Androssi surrender, the Vuxhal opened fire and destroyed the Androssi ship. Shortly after, the Vuxhal joined in the search to locate Lt. Commander Data after he became separated from the shuttlecraft Hudson. The Vuxhal found Data, but floating nearby was the Androssi-commandeered Calypso. Before the Vuxhal managed to engage the Calypso, she morphed into the shapeshifting vessel and engulfed the Vuxhal, assuming its shape and destroying the original. (TNG novel: A Time to Be Born)
