Synopsis
  • Buddy is getting ready to have dinner with Ellen, Cliff and Maxine when Cliff tells him about a gunman in the children's cancer ward at the local hospital. Buddy stops the gunman without difficulty but strangely after using his powers, blood pours from his eyes. A doctor examines him, but finds no wounds, so Buddy leaves. Returning home after Ellen has gone to sleep he uses his power to assume the sleeping ability of a cat and falls right to sleep only to suffer through a terrifying nightmare. His son Cliff is disemboweled and claims Maxine did it to him. Buddy confronts three monsters who claim to represent "the rot in the red" and are the true fathers of his children. Buddy awakens to hear Ellen calling him outside the house. When goes outside, he finds Maxine has animated the corpses of several small animals as she longs for the pet that Buddy denies her.

quotation
  • I never get sick of this. It doesn't matter how many times I dip into the Morphogenetic Field and take on an animal power, I still get that same rush I got the very first time I did it. Truth is, that's why I can't give up being Animal Man... It's too much fun.
