  • The Battle of Rovno was a World War II battle between remnant forces of the German XIII Army Corps and the Red Army in and around the Ukrainian city of Rovno on 2 February 1944. Army Group South had instructed XIII corps to establish new defensive positions on the Sdolbuno-Uscie-Rovno-Zolotyov line in order to delay the advancing Red Army who were aggressively pursuing the retreating Army Group as part of the Korsun–Shevchenkovsky Offensive. The Soviet 13th and 60th Armies attacked along this defensive line, penetrating the defences at Sdolbuno and within hours all German forces within the city of Rovno were surrounded. The city was finally liberated when the last German forces capitulated on 5 February 1944. This particular battle aided to the collapse of the Nazi army. It gave the Soviet
