| abstract | - Sir Guy of Gisbourne was the name of a character from Human mythology. Living in 12th century England, he worked for the High Sheriff of Nottingham as a second-in-command. Guy wanted to marry Maid Marian, who was in a romantic relationship with Robin Hood. After capturing her, he held Maid Marian in Nottingham Castle where she was rescued from execution by Hood after refusing Guy's proposal for marriage and was found guilty of outlawry and treason. In 2367, the entity known as Q transported the senior officers of the USS Enterprise-D into a recreation of Sherwood Forest and the story of Robin Hood in an attempt to teach Captain Picard a lesson about love. Picard in the part of Robin Hood had to make a decision: to let Maid Marian, played by Picard's former flame Vash, die or risk the lives of his Merry Men, who were played by members of his staff, in a rescue mission to save her. During the mission, Guy was killed by Robin Hood during a sword fight. (TNG: "Qpid" ) Sir Guy of Gisbourne was played by actor Clive Revill.
