Biography
  • Dick Smith is a former NASCAR driver from Lakewood, CA. In five Nextel Cup Series starts, Smith earned three top-tens. Smith's debut came in 1960, when he competed at Hanford. Starting 11th in the field of thirty-three, Smith completed all but nine laps and wound up with a spectacular 6th place finish. He quickly proved it was no fluke, finishing 7th later that year at Sacramento. Smith's final three races came in 1961, and Smith again came fast out of the gate. Starting 8th at Riverside, Smith completed all but one lap and wound up finishing a career-best 3rd. Unfortunately, Smith slipped a bit after that, rounding out his career with mid-pack runs of 19th at L.A. and 15th at Sacramento. External Links *Stats
