  • Basilosaurus was a large, predatory whale from the Eocene. It was the top predator in the Tethys ocean during its existence.

  • Basilosaurus was a primitive but nonetheless very large whale from the Late Eocene epoch. It was featured in two popular BBC programs, Walking with Prehistoric Beasts and Chased By Sea Monsters. Despite being a whale, the name Basilosaurus means "King Lizard" because when its fossils were first dug up, people though it was a giant marine reptile similar to a plesiosaur or a mosasaur, despite the fact that such reptiles were long extinct by Basilosaurus's time.
  • Basilosaurus was a prehistoric whale that lived during the Eocene epoch 36 million years ago. It was 18 metres (59 feet) in length and has a long slender body that was like that of a serpent. Leo John once believed that the Ogopogo was actually a Basilosaurus, but it turned out to be a Titanoboa. (Sisiutl)
  • Basilosaurus was an enormous whale that was the top predator of the Eocene sea. It was about 60 feet long and was the biggest carnivourous whale to ever swim in the seas. Its diet consisted of squid and a smaller and much faster whale/seal creature called a Dorudon, which was nerly 9 times smaller than basilosaurus! Usually it would grab it alive and throw it onto land then bite its head off to scoff the inside of the prey.
  • The Basilosaurus (バシロサウルス) is, as the name suggests, a basilosaurus in The Ocean Hunter. It is the only sub boss in West Ocean.
  • Measuring 40–65 ft (12–20 m), Basilosaurus cetoides was the largest ocean animal.[8] B. isis is slightly smaller than B. cetoides.
  • Basilosaurus was highly elongated due to the unparalleled elongation of its vertebrae. The skeletal anatomy of the tail suggests that a small fluke was probably present, which would have aided only vertical motion. Most reconstructions show a small, speculative dorsal fin similar to a rorqual whale’s, but other reconstructions show a dorsal ridge. The whale also possessed small, 0.6 meter (2 ft) hind limbs, which clearly could not aid locomotion on a 15–22 meter (50–72 foot) animal. At one time, it was believed that Basilosaurus had some sort of armor plating, but subsequent research has refuted this interpretation.
  • Basilosaurus was a genus of Basilosaurid whales. It was enormous, traditionally being depicted as the biggest mammal predator ever. Basilosaurus rivaled or exceeded the modern sperm whale in size Basilosaurus would have grown to 60-70 feet.

Basilosaurus rivaled or exceeded the modern sperm whale in size Basilosaurus would have grown to 60-70 feet. Basilosaurus was reptilian in design and at one point thought to have been a reptile. Two species are known from Africa, with many more from the United States of America. This enormous whale would have been a deadly predator; its jaws were incredibly powerful and would give Basilosaurus a powerful grip on its prey, which may have included other, smaller whales. However, Basilosaurus most likely preyed on fish sharks and other sea animals.
