He thought his sketches and notes were pretty good, so he showed his drawings to his cell mate. He was killed on sight. His drawings were thought to be destroyed, but then they were discovered in 1963 and made into a TV show. The series has broken the world record for the longest running Science-Fiction program that's not Japanese.
