She can carry barrels (even pulling them in from a distance) and collect water in her trunk (allowing her to shoot it at the enemies), but, in classic cartoon form, she is extremely afraid of mice and will run any time she sees one. One particular level ("Stampede Sprint," in the secret world Krematoa) even centers around Ellie running uncontrollably after coming upon a trio of mice. Ellie is one of three Animal Buddies to fight a boss. She fights the waterfall monster Squirt in Cotton-Top Cove.

Second, she does not run from mice at all. Lastly, she cannot drag barrels in her trunk like in Donkey Kong Country 3. In Donkey Konga, she appears at the bottom of the screen, dancing to the beat of the music played. Ellie was also going to be one rideable creatures in the now-apparently cancelled game, Donkey Kong Racing.
