Renowned for its beauty and pristine environment, Rhinnal also developed a textile industry in addition to its pharmaceutical and cybernetics industry, and the native Rhinnalians were known for their fierce loyalty to their clans. Freed from Esseles' control with the rise of the Galactic Empire, Rhinnal eventually overthrew its governor Phadreas Kole in 7 ABY and joined the New Republic, supplying its doctors and medical expertise to help halt crises such as the outbreak of the Krytos virus and the Death Seed plague. Rhinnal willingly accepted thousands of refugees during the war with the extragalactic Yuuzhan Vong species, though transports full of some of those same refugees were used as ammunition against the capital of Coruscant's shields by the Yuuzhan Vong during their capture of Coruscant.
