| abstract | - A Ghost shell is a piece of Guardian equipment which changes the appearance of the owner's Ghost. In year 1, only two ghost shells were available- a basic shell given to all newly created guardians, and a red shell only available as part of the Destiny Ghost Edition. With the release of The Taken King, a large number of additional ghost shells became available. Ghost shells have a defense stat which contributes to Light, and, like any other armor piece, also contribute to Intellect, Discipline, or Strength. They may also have perks which grant a glimmer bonus when killing any of the five enemy species or opponents in PvP, and perks which improve the process of gathering planetary resources, such as Spinmetal.
