  • Why is Greenwashing a Problem?
rdfs:comment
  • These days it seems like everything has become "green”... Airline companies, car producers etc. claim that they are green. The question of interest however is is this is true? What if these companies claim to be green even if they are not?

abstract
  • These days it seems like everything has become "green”... Airline companies, car producers etc. claim that they are green. The question of interest however is is this is true? What if these companies claim to be green even if they are not? * Greenwashing is bad for the environment because it encourages consumers to buy a product or service thinking that they are helping the environment when often the result it is the opposite of what’s good for the environment. * When you see an environmental claim, ask yourself: is this really is the whole truth? * Do some research about the company and product... a closer examination might show that while the product itself is "green" the production process is not. For example, a hybrid car is "green" but you might have to drive it for 200,000 miles before you payback the environmental cost of its production.
