Chicago was deep at the left wing position and traded Ledingham to the New York Islanders in 1974 for Germain Gagnon. He had little luck cracking the Islanders lineup and only got into six games for them in three seasons. Ledingham retired in 1977, having played in a total of 15 NHL games and scored two assists.
